Lower Meadow centenarian receives over 100 cards for her 100th birthday

Stratford-Upon-Avon care home resident, Janet, celebrated reaching 100 years old by receiving 100 birthday cards from the wider community.

To celebrate her 100th birthday, Lower Meadow care home, threw a big party for Janet, surrounded by her family and friends at her local chapel in Kineton.

The care home reached out to people across the community to ask one small favour to make Janet’s day extra special; a birthday card to wish well.

The home received over 100 cards from various members of the Stratford community, including cards from Bishopton Primary School, Kingsleigh care home and the local bank. Residents and team members at Lower Meadow also created hand-made cards to celebrate her special day.

Janet was pleased to receive her 100th anniversary message from the King, which now sits proudly on her shelf.

Deputy Home Manager, Jasmine Kessey, commented on the day:

“It’s not every day that you get the privilege to care for someone turning 100, it is an incredible achievement, and I know that Janet was over the moon with excitement for her birthday. At Lower Meadow we feel it is important to keep close ties to the community and what a better way to celebrate than getting everyone together to celebrate this amazing achievement.

We are so thankful for everybody who has bought, made and wrote cards to Janet and she was overwhelmed by the love and sense of community from those living in Stratford.”
