A very special celebration took place at Chelmunds Court care come on 10 August as the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Sardul Singh Marwa, and Mayoress Satnam Marwa visited the home to celebrate resident Gwen’s incredible 107th birthday.
Knowing how extraordinary this milestone is, the Chelmunds Court team wanted to go above and beyond for Gwen. They contacted the Mayor’s office to arrange a civic visit and transformed one of the lounges into a cosy, decorated party space, complete with a lovely spread of food and treats.
The Mayor and Mayoress joined Gwen, her family, residents and staff for the occasion, spending time chatting and celebrating together. The atmosphere was dignified and joyful, with warm conversation, laughter and a real sense of admiration for Gwen and her remarkable milestone.
A standout moment came when Gwen asked for a photograph and affectionately called everybody “lovely”.
Following the celebration, the Mayor and Mayoress said: “We appreciate the invite, and we enjoyed our visit. A lovely and welcoming home.”
Turning 107 is an incredibly rare achievement, and the special visit ensured Gwen felt recognised, valued and celebrated not only by those closest to her, but by the wider Solihull community too.
