Rosedale Court win big at Essex Prosper Awards

Rosedale Court Care Home, in Rayleigh, Essex, were recognised in multiple categories at the Essex Care Sector Awards ceremony on the 8th of July.

The Rosedale Court team were honoured to be invited to the Award Ceremony at Cressing Temple Barns in Braintree on the 8th of July, where they were recognised in three categories at the Essex Prosper Awards.

Rosedale Court won both the Unsung Hero Volunteer and Dementia Care category and were Highly Commended for the Activities and Wellbeing category.

The Rosedale Court team were delighted to see John Hayles, a family member of a resident at Rosedale Court, win the Unsung Hero Award. John was recognised due to his generosity, the judges said, “John was selected by the judges due to his exceptional contribution as a relative of a resident at Rosedale Court.” John kindle donated a specialist chair to the home to enable other residents to access the outdoors and enjoy group activities. During the pandemic he set up a WhatsApp group for all relatives as a way to share support, and let others know of the latest updates on guidance. He also very kindly sent pizzas to all the staff, including those on the nightshift, to show his appreciation for all their hard work.  The judges said “John had made an exceptional contribution to the home and was truly worthy of being an Unsung Hero.”

The team at Rosedale Court were also announced as a winner of the Dementia Care category. This category “recognises the provider who has demonstrated a proactive and person-centred approach to supporting individuals living with Dementia and is able to evidence a good understanding of the challenges they face and how they have improved their wellbeing.”

The team were presented with this award due to going above and beyond to provide personalised dementia care and ‘taking the time to learn about a person’s background, culture, past and present hobbies and their current ability to continue them.’

Damian King, Home Manager at Rosedale Court commented:

“We are over the moon to have been recognised in three notable categories at the Essex Prosper Awards. John is so deserving of the Unsung Hero Award and the wider team and I are delighted that he has been recognised for his extraordinary generosity towards both staff and residents at Rosedale Court.

To win the Dementia Care award and be highly commended for the Activity and Wellbeing category means so much to all of us Rosedale Court. Our main focus is to ensure we are providing person-centred care for each resident and their individual needs, and to offer an enriching environment with a variety of different activities to get involved in, all of which place an emphasis on residents’ wellbeing.”

Well done to Rosedale Court for their very well-deserved win!
