Laureate Court care home in Rotherham, part of the Runwood Homes group, kicked off an exciting and innovative campaign throughout November 2024 – the “Drink Don’t Drop” initiative. The goal of the campaign was to raise awareness of the importance of hydration for the residents, promote a variety of fluid options, and create a fun and engaging experience while helping reduce the number of falls within the home.
Throughout the month, the staff at Laureate Court went above and beyond to make hydration enjoyable. The campaign featured some fantastic, creative stands and stations, each designed with a unique twist. Laureate Court’s receptionist Hannah and her Magical Mocktails delighted the residents with vibrant, non-alcoholic drinks. Administrator Angie’s Laureate Arms Pub gave a pub-style experience, while Care Team Leader Lainey’s Ice Cream Bar served up refreshing treats. Laureate Court Senior Home Manager Lisa’s Hot Chocolate Stand provided the perfect warmth for the colder months, and Wellbeing Lead Sharon’s Smoothie Station offered delicious, nutritious drinks to keep everyone refreshed.
The residents and staff at Laureate Court loved the different options, and the atmosphere in the home was filled with laughter and camaraderie. Most importantly, the campaign led to a noticeable decrease in falls within the home, highlighting the positive impact hydration can have on overall well-being and safety.
Lisa Facer, Senior Home Manager at Laureate Court, shared her thoughts: “Hydration is extremely important, and I felt that running the ‘Drink Don’t Drop’ campaign to highlight this was a great idea. The staff really enjoyed coming up with ideas to make it fun and, most importantly, we saw a drop in falls in the home. This campaign has shown just how essential hydration is for our residents’ health and safety.”
The “Drink Don’t Drop” campaign not only brought fun and creativity to Laureate Court, but it also highlighted the vital connection between hydration and fall prevention, making a meaningful difference in the residents’ lives.
