Longview Care Home had a delightful visit from Rowland Lodge Nursery on the 24th of February, as children ages 1-2 brought smiles and joy to residents by sharing cupcakes they had decorated themselves. The visit was a heartwarming occasion, as the little ones also entertained the residents by dancing to nursery rhymes, creating an atmosphere of fun and connection.
Jessica, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Longview, shared her thoughts on the event:
“It was a wonderful experience to see the children today and enjoy the delicious cakes they had decorated. We can’t wait for the next visit!”
Janet, a resident, also expressed her joy, stating:
“It was so lovely seeing the babies today and having them bring delicious cakes they had decorated. I can’t wait to see them again!”
The visit took place in a calm lounge area, where ten residents interacted with the four babies and their nursery workers. It provided the perfect opportunity for the residents to engage with the children, fostering community connections that are so vital for well-being.
Georgina, a member of the nursery staff from Rowland Lodge, reflected on the visit:
“We have loved our visit to Longview today. The babies loved it, and it was so nice to put a smile on the residents’ faces!”
This initiative is part of Longview’s, part of the Runwood Homes group, ongoing commitment to strengthen community ties, as interactions with children and babies are particularly cherished by the residents. These meaningful connections support the well-being of the residents by providing them with new experiences and interactions that enrich their daily lives.
The idea for the visit was sparked after a previous successful visit from Rowland Lodge Nursery. The staff were eager to bring the children back for another special occasion, and it’s clear that the residents were just as eager to welcome them.
A standout moment for the residents at Longview care home was when one of the babies showed extra affection for their resident Bill, deciding to hand him three cakes instead of one. It was a hilarious and heartwarming moment that made everyone smile!
