Lower Meadow Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently held a lively and vibrant celebration of culture, embracing diversity in a way that brought staff, residents, and family members together. On Friday 11th April, staff members dressed in traditional clothing from their home countries, sharing their culinary delights and unique traditions with everyone at the care home.

The event featured a variety of traditional dishes from across the world, all prepared by the staff, who shared their personal favourites from their home countries. Residents gathered in the café to join in the celebration, relishing the flavours and engaging with staff about their attire and the cultural significance of the day.

Lower Meadow regularly hosts cultural days, encouraging staff to participate in festivals and holy days. This event highlighted the importance of embracing cultural diversity. It allowed the community to celebrate and respect one another’s backgrounds, creating an atmosphere of inclusivity.

The atmosphere was filled with vibrant energy, with music in the air and smiles all around. Residents shared their thoughts on the food and enjoyed conversations with staff about their traditional clothing and the rich stories behind them. The day was a standout moment for Lower Meadow, as it showcased the unity and spirit of its community, with all staff working together to create an immersive cultural experience for residents and their families.

This celebration is a reminder of the joy that diversity brings and the shared bonds that unite us through food, tradition, and community.
