Residents of Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed an inspiring and emotional visit to The Museum of the Queen’s Royal Hussars on the 2nd October 2025, where they attended the “Brave Tails: Animals Who Served” exhibition, a moving tribute to the incredible contributions of animals in military history.
The trip offered an enriching opportunity for residents to explore history in an interactive and heartfelt way. From displays honouring the sacrifices of war animals, such as the powerful Richmond Poppies, to the chance to meet live donkeys, the day was filled with moments of connection, reflection, and joy.
Bridie, Lifestyle Coordinator, shared:
“I believe in creating experiences that connect residents with history, community, and each other. The ‘Brave Tails’ exhibition was a moving tribute. It sparked meaningful conversations and reflections among the group. I’m proud to support outings that inspire, educate, and honour the past.”
A highlight of the visit was a surprise meeting with The Mayor of Warwick, Jackie D’Arcy, who took the time to welcome the Park View Care Home residents and share in their appreciation of the exhibit.
Resident Terry said:
“Meeting the Mayor of Warwick and seeing the donkeys was such a special moment. I’ve always loved learning about history, and I felt so honoured to be part of the event.”
Mayor Jackie D’Arcy also commented:
“It was a pleasure to meet the residents of Park View Care Home at the Brave Tails exhibition. Their enthusiasm and interest in the stories of these remarkable animals truly added to the spirit of the event.”
Home Manager Dani Pathirage added:
“The exhibition provided a profound and educational experience for our residents. Many found the stories both moving and thought-provoking. At Parkview, we’re committed to working closely with the lifestyle team to deliver enriching, high-quality activities that promote learning, reflection, and emotional wellbeing.”
The event created a warm and welcoming atmosphere and connects to Park View Care Home’s goal to spark meaningful conversations and to enhance resident wellbeing. The donkeys especially brought smiles to everyone’s faces and served as a living connection to the history being honoured.
