Westwood Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, continues to make a meaningful difference in the local community through its monthly Community Matters initiative, a project designed to support local charities and bring people together for a shared cause.
Commenting on the initiative, Chloe, Lifestyle Coordinator at Westwood, said:
“Every month we have a Community Matters drop box in our reception area. We choose a local charity to support, and staff, residents, and family members are invited to bring in donations so we can give back to our community.”
The initiative takes place every month and focuses on supporting a different local charity each time. The idea was introduced last year by Claire, Home Manager, alongside Chloe and Natasha from the lifestyle team, and has since become a valued part of life at Westwood.
Over the past months, Westwood has proudly supported a number of local organisations, including Aurora Bassetlaw Cancer Charity, The Salvation Army, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, and Bassetlaw Food Bank. This month’s chosen charity is From the Heart, a local organisation that supports families with young children in the Westwood area.
The initiative brings together staff, residents, and family members, creating a strong sense of unity and shared purpose. The atmosphere each month reflects Westwood’s commitment to kindness, compassion, and giving back.
Supporting the community is a core value at Westwood, and this initiative plays an important role in helping local organisations while encouraging residents and families to stay connected to the wider community.
