Low Furlong care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, proudly hosted the first of what will become many Veterans’ Breakfast Clubs on Saturday 25th April, bringing together resident veterans and veterans from the local community for a morning of remembrance, companionship, and support.
Held on Anzac Day in partnership with the Royal British Legion, the special event welcomed 34 veterans who were treated to a full English breakfast in a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with conversation and meaningful connections.
A particularly moving moment during the event was the bugler performing The Last Post, followed by a two-minute silence to honour service and remembrance. The event created a powerful sense of reflection, respect, and unity among everyone present.
Veteran resident Chris shared his thoughts, saying:
“We enjoyed the first of many Veterans’ Breakfast Clubs organised in conjunction with the Royal British Legion which went extraordinarily well and all those involved should be very proud of themselves.”
Standout moments from the morning included the bugle performance, the two-minute silence, and the heartfelt conversations shared between veterans, making the launch of the Breakfast Club a truly meaningful occasion for all involved.
