Residents, staff and visitors at Oldfield House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together for a heartwarming Baking Club session that filled the home with the delicious aroma of freshly baked chocolate chip scones.

The session invited residents to roll up their sleeves and take part in creating a classic treat. The group worked together to mix, knead and bake chocolate chip scones, which were later shared not only among fellow residents but also with team members throughout the home.

The idea for the session was developed collaboratively, with residents, staff and visitors contributing suggestions to find the perfect easy-bake recipe that everyone could enjoy participating in.

One resident shared their delight, saying:
“I enjoyed doing this again. It’s been years. Can’t do much because of my arthritis but this was easy enough.”

A member of the local community added:
“Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s very rewarding.”

Beyond creating a sweet treat, the Baking Club offered meaningful benefits for those involved. A standout moment of the afternoon was seeing residents proudly present their golden batches, enjoying the simple pleasure of sharing something homemade with others.

At Oldfield House, activities like the Baking Club continue to play an important role in fostering connection, creativity and joy within the home.IMG 20260227 155106199 HDR Wellbeing Oldfield IMG 20260227 160027005 HDR Wellbeing Oldfield
