Rose House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was filled with music, laughter, and togetherness on Monday 12 January 2026, as residents, staff, and families came together for a special Musical Monday event designed to uplift and inspire.

The home welcomed Harmony Heather, who delighted everyone with a selection of well-known musical classics, beautifully performed with guitar accompaniment and heartfelt vocals. Residents were encouraged to sing along, reminisce, and enjoy the comforting familiarity of live music in a relaxed and joyful setting.

Residents responded enthusiastically to the afternoon. Kath, a resident at Rose House, shared that she really enjoyed the performance, explaining that she loves to sing and that music helps take her mind off things.

The event was supported by Lifestyle Coordinator and Lifestyle Support, Sharon Griggs, alongside dedicated staff, residents, and visiting family members. Their involvement helped create a warm, inclusive atmosphere that reflected Rose House’s strong sense of community.

Music plays an important role in care settings, offering emotional comfort, encouraging social interaction, and supporting memory and cognitive engagement, particularly for those living with dementia. Events like Musical Monday help reduce loneliness, strengthen relationships, and provide residents with positive experiences to look forward to as part of everyday life.

The idea for Musical Monday stems from a company-wide initiative focused on enhancing residents’ quality of life through regular, meaningful activities. By recognising the proven benefits of music on mood, memory, and social connection, Rose House is committed to making music a consistent and creative part of its lifestyle programme.

The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was uplifting and full of energy, with smiles, gentle applause, and shared laughter echoing around the home. A standout highlight was Louise and Sharon’s lively performance as Mary Poppins and Bert the Chimney Sweep, which delighted residents, staff, and families alike with its charm, humour, and infectious enthusiasm.

Rose House continues to demonstrate its commitment to person-centred care, ensuring residents enjoy enriching experiences that support wellbeing, connection, and joy.
