Residents at Chelmunds Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a special visit from a friendly local dog named Chai, who brought smiles, cuddles and plenty of joy throughout the home.
The visit took place during the afternoon, following a busy day of activities at the home. Chai spent time travelling around the lounges and residents’ rooms, greeting everyone and sharing plenty of affection along the way. Residents were delighted to meet their four-legged visitor, enjoying gentle cuddles, treats and conversation as Chai made his way around the home.
Staff, residents and visiting family members all joined in the heartwarming experience, with many commenting on the positive impact the visit had on everyone present.
One family member shared their thoughts on the visit, saying they thought it was “amazing seeing everyone bond over the dog.”
The home regularly welcomes animals from the local community as part of its wellbeing activities, recognising the powerful emotional benefits animal interaction can bring. During Chai’s visit, the atmosphere throughout the home was filled with happiness, as residents followed him from room to room, chatting, laughing and enjoying the moment together.
One particularly touching highlight came when a resident followed Chai around the home and explained her reason simply: “Animals make me the happiest.”
