Residents at Chelmunds Court Step Into Wonderland for Magical Afternoon Tea

Residents at Chelmunds Court enjoyed an enchanting Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea Party on 24 July, as the home’s monthly themed tea party transformed the lounge into a whimsical Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

The lounge was beautifully decorated with colourful themed tables, while residents embraced the occasion by dressing up in costumes ranging from top hats to the Queen of Hearts. Residents, families and staff gathered together to enjoy tea, sweet treats and lively conversation, creating a fun-filled afternoon full of laughter and smiles.

The idea was inspired by residents’ love of dressing up and themed social events. The Alice in Wonderland theme brought together bright colours, nostalgia and imagination, encouraging everyone to step away from their everyday routines and enjoy a magical shared experience.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was capturing memorable photographs in the themed photo booth, with the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts posing together for a picture that everyone will treasure.

Resident Eileen said: “It was a lovely themed afternoon tea party. I enjoyed dressing up as the Queen of Hearts and having a nice cup of tea with everybody.”

Events like these play an important role in supporting residents’ wellbeing by encouraging creativity, social interaction and meaningful moments with family and friends. The playful atmosphere made for an unforgettable afternoon, with plenty of giggles, cheerful chatter and the gentle clinking of teacups filling the room.
